The StopGBV Ally Certificate includes following courses:
Safe Space Online Privacy - The prevalence of cyberstalking has increased dramatically over the last two decades. Now more than ever, students need to be equipped with the tools to protect their information and to fight back against cyberstalking.
- This course is an excellent resource for students who are interested in recognizing, preventing and addressing cyberstalking particularly within the context of GBV.
- Stalking, Cyberstalking, Sextortion and Revengeporn
- Learn about the definition for crimes such as stalking, cyberstalking, sextortion and revengeporn as well as again an understanding of the similarities and differences between each crime.
- This jam-packed course provides a deep dive to help students undertand tactics used in stalking, cyberstalking, sextortion and revengeporn, and the mental health and medical impacts of these crimes as well as economic and social impacts of each.
- Learn advice to protect yourself and others from becoming targeted by predators, and on taking legal action and how to report these crimes.
- This course is an excellent resource for students who are interested in jump starting their career in public policy, governance and journalism. Any student who is interested in pursuing a changemaking career should take this course.

- Learn how student activism can be a powerful force in bringing about change and what current students can do to contribute to causes.

What will be covered in each of these courses?
Safe Space Online Privacy
This course will educate students with an introduction to cyberstalking. This course will empower students to protect their information and prevent cyberstalking.
In this course, students will learn the following:
- Definition of cyberstalking
- How to recognize cyberstalking
- How to address cyberstalking
- Importance of documenting instances of cyberstalking and tools that can help
- Additionally, students will learn how to prevent their information from falling into the hands of cyberstalkers.
Stalking, Cyberstalking, Sextortion and Revengeporn
This course will educate students on internet related sex crimes based in GBV. This course will empower students to protect themselves and their loved ones from these crimes.
This course is divided into five main sections and additional resources.
In Background, students will learn:
- Definitions of Stalking, Cyberstalking, Sextortion, Revengeporn, and Femicide
- The incidence, prevalence and mortality rates of these crimes
In Victimology and Criminology, students will gain understanding of:
- Tactics used in traditional and cyberstalking, sextortion and revengeporn
- Mental health and medical impacts in the context of stalking and cyberstalking, sextortion and revengeporn
- Economic and social impacts
In Prevention, students will learn:
- Methods to prevent these crimes and advice on how to protect themselves from becoming targets of predators in the context of stalking, cyberstalking, sextortion and revengeporn.
In Awareness and Law, students will learn:
- Societal awareness, advocates and movements
- Details on laws in place to punish culprits of these crimes
In Action, students will learn:
- Advice on taking legal action and reporting these crimes
- Resources to support victims of these crimes, on college campus and in the workplace
Student Activism to StopGBV
Students who complete this course will be able to empower their classmates to make the most of their years in school to bring about positive change. In this course, students will learn:
- How student activism can be a powerful tool for change
- How to start their own student activist group
- The problem and challenges of GBV on college campuses
